3.1. Buddhist Literary Heritage Project
October 24, 2009 Dear Friends,
My name is Huang Jing Rui, and I am honored to be newly appointed as the interim executive director of the Buddhist Literary Heritage Project (BLHP). The goal of this new initiative is to see all of the vast and extraordinary riches of Indo-Tibetan Buddhist literature, particularly the Kangyur and Tengyur, translated into English and other modern languages and made universally accessible within a hundred years.
Over the past few decades, many groups and individuals have been working with great dedication to translate a wide range of Buddhist teachings into English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, and other languages. The BLHP grew from the jointly expressed wishes of more than 50 such translators, teachers, and academics who met in Bir, India, in March 2009 at the Translating the Words of the Buddha conference.
Conceived as a project with its own activity and funding, and not simply as a forum for discussion, the BLHP clearly needs an effective organizational structure. At the Bir conference, the participants requested Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche to take on the interim responsibility of overseeing the establishment of the necessary structure.
In the six months since the conference, many interesting developments have taken place toward setting up that interim organizational structure, together with the key policies and strategic plans that will get the BLHP going. These steps include:
May: Planning meeting June: Editorial policy meeting July: Appointment of executive director and working committee July: Confirmation of two “proof of concept” pilot translations September: Four-day working committee planning meeting The Buddhist Literary Heritage Project will officially begin to operate in January 2010, managed by an interim working committee consisting of eight members:
Chair: Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche
Executive director: Huang Jing Rui
Committee members: Ani Kunga Chodron, Gene Smith, Ivy Ang, John Canti, Steven Goodman, and Cangioli Che
The BLHP interim working committee is committed to an open, inclusive, and collaborative approach that seeks the involvement of Dharma teachers, translators, academics, scholars, and researchers from all segments of the Buddhist community. The BLHP has taken birth from the great aspirations of teachers, translators, and people like you, but it is still in its infancy. As we develop, learn, and move forward, we humbly seek your patience, understanding, and goodwill. Your ongoing support is absolutely necessary for the project to accomplish its objective of preserving and making available the precious teachings of the Buddha.
Finally, we wish to express our heartfelt thanks to all the past and present volunteers and donors, who have generously offered time, money, experience, expertise, effort, and goodwill to the BLHP. We look forward to your continued support.
Please feel free to forward this letter to anybody whom you feel might be interested in our project. Thank you.
Yours in the Dharma,Huang Jing Rui Executive Director

V. Human rights
5.1. Nov 20 marks 20 years of International convention of children´s rights !
However : millions of children still don´t have basic human rights like health care, education etc. In Nepal His Eminence Sagar Rinpoche is taking care for more than 100 orphan children coming from 18 districts of Nepal. They are boys and girls from 6 till 18 years visiting private Buddhist school connected to Dechen Ling monastery and temple. May your generosity begins today by sponsoring/supporting one or more orphan child : monthly sponsoring is 30 Euro which provides for child´s dwelling, education, health care and support for the spiritual community. . Buddha Dharma provides financial & spiritual support and conseling in the frame of Buddha Dharma´s international charity. Upon writing to BuddhaDharma.OBFInternational@gmail.com we will send you bank account information for your regular contribution. We remember all supporters in prayers and meditations and provide spiritual guidance in times of need. All sponsors obtain photos, posters as well as seeds of the Buddha tree from the Lumbini zone , donated by ven. Sagar Rinpoche : Seeds for world peace. May you become peaceful and happy by helping others ***** As Kunkhyen Longchenpa said : Through generosity enjoyment is achieved ! See related Visual Dharma : Longchenpa – Six perfections.
We thank all supporters , esp. Mr and Mrs. Winter, Mr. Ales Pertot, Karma Döndrub Namgyal and others. OM MANI PADME HUM

In southern Nepal 25 kilometers away from Ram Bomjon’s meditation site, the world’s largest animal sacrifice is about to begin. At the stalls of Gadhi Mai Mela animal sellers are raking in the rupees. The massacre of a million animals takes place on November 24, 2009. Is this really how it has to be?
On November 24, 2009, the sacrifices will reach their peak.
You can help prevent it,
attend the blessings, or sign the petition:
KhenpoDarma sent you a video: “Nepal, We Can Prevent Animal Sacrifice.wmv”
Please view this. You’re awareness can make the difference!

Re: Re:KhenpoDarma sent you a video: “Nepal, We Can Prevent Animal Sacrifice.wmv”
Thank you very much for the message, and the prayers!
OM MANI PADME HUM Animal sacrifice is totally uncivilised deed , not a religious act at all! World wide petition must support complete prohibition of animal sacrifice in all traditions . True religion saves lives of beings ! This petition must be brought to United nations which must prohibit animal sacrifice in all countries, including Muslim world. It is very sad day for Nepal when 500.000 animals are killed every year.
OM MANI PADME HUM
Buddha Dharma-OBF International
* Today in collective prayers and meditations we will also pray for all animals that are killed in animal sacrifice.
