Vol. V

TSOG OFFERING

TSOG OFFERING VERSE by Kyabje Dudjom Rinpoche II. (1904-1987) is 42. Visual Dharma published on our Buddhist channel of Youtube, to benefit beings limitless as the sky. This is sacred Buddhist text & must be treated with respect. Embeding brings enlightened energy to you, your place and the planet.

Essentials : Kyabje Dudjom Rinpoche was supreme principal of Nyingma Vajrayana Buddhism & one of greatest mystics of 20. Century. This Visual Dharma is devoted to the continuation of Dudjom Rinpoche´s Dharmas upholded by Kyabje Dudjom Rinpoche III. Pema Ösel , born in 1990 who wrote :

“With the compassionate Blessings of Guru Padmasambhava,

I pray that the Three wheels of Study, Practice and Activities

Of the doctrines of Clear Light of Dzogpachenpo

may be accomplished without any obstacles.” (1)

Making offerings (skt. Ganachakra, Tib. Tsog) to the Three Roots of Refuge (Lama,YidamKhandro) is one of ten enlightened activities as taught by Guru Padmasambhava. Special days for Tsog are : 10. lunar day of Guru Rinpoche & 25. the Dakini day. To accumulate merit and wisdom this Condensed Tsog should be recited daily. One should not practice Atiyoga Dzogpachenpo in self-centered style, as self-centered buddhas (rang-gyal)(2), just wrongly using Dzogchen terminology. One must have previous proper training (in previous lives or in this life) of Mahayana & Vajrayana Buddhist Path, to undestand natural awareness (rang-rig) or Rigpa. To say in computer language : Dharmakaya is not your private domain.

Wisdom Dakini dictated this supreme Verse to Dudjom Rinpoche in a dream, 1933 in Tibet.  It is  Upadesha – innermost secret cathegory – Todgal teachings of Dzogpachenpo. All-knowing Longchenpa wrote about Visions of clarity (Odsal gyi nang-wa) : “In this practice , one actualises the primordialy and spontaneously accomplished result in this very lifetime” (3). How to reverse delusive appearances into primordial ground (Dharmakaya) is taught by Rigdzin Jigme Lingpa, explaining the Four natural contemplations (Chog-zhag) : In the spontaneous accomplishment with form (Lhundrub Thodgal), having reversed (zlog) the delusions through such training as the “threefold glances” (zigs-tang), one meditates on perfecting the Fourfold Visions (Nang-zhi)…Lochen Dharma Sri summarizes : Relying on six crucial means of training, the four Visions arise gradually. They are :

1.Direct realisation of ultimate nature (Chonyid gon-sum)

2.Development of Experiences (Nyam Gong-phel)

3.Perfection of intrinsic awareness (Rigpa Tsad-Phebs)

4.Dissolution of phenomena into ultimate nature (Chonyid zad-pa).

Those Atiyoga meditators who were already directly intoduced to the naturaly liberated Sound*Light of Dharmata (Chonyid kyi rang-dra) in the Atiyoga Dzogpachenpo essence lineage, contemplate in silence before and after singing Tsog offering verse, to develop the Experiences. During four successive Visions the Four empowerments of Great perfection are received. PENETRATION OF SOUND DZOGCHEN TANTRA (4) also teaches precisely about the Four Visions, leading to enlightenment in the primordialy pure Youthful Vase Body (zho-nu bum-pa´i  ku), great Buddha dimension of Reality. Dudjom Rinpoche II. wrote in a Prayer of Calling the Lama from afar :

“The essence is the primordially unchanging nature, free from mental activity.

Dwelling in the primordially pure Youthful Vase Body

Of profound inner luminosity,

Dharmakaya Lama Yeshe Dorje, care for me;

Please bestow the blessing of obtaining great confidence in the View.”

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS : watergrass5150 , USA, sent these questions :

“The monkey notice Buddha had reached the enlightment stage. He decided to bring buddha an offering. The monkey grab some honey combs and buddha rejects the offering saying babies bees are still alive and will not accept it. The monkey went back grab a sharp stick and started to poke all the babies bees. After killing and cleaning all of it from the combs, he filled the combs with sweet honey. He then went back to buddha and this time buddha accept the offering.
The monkey was so happy that he went on swinging from tree to trees. Shortly the monkey accidently fell down from one of the branches and landed on a sharp deaded stick. He was dead in an instant. When buddha heard about it he started to pray and suddenly the monkey spirit when up to heaven and reincarnated as one of the human’s angel. “
1. Did we see the monkey as a being who wants to please buddha or trying to please himself?
We see capricious monkey trying to please the Buddha and also himself. Monkey is portrayed in Samatha or Shine practice (calm abiding) as the capricious mind, jumping from one object of perception toward another object. It represent restless, wandering thoughts. Restless mind often perform unvirtuous karma of killing (refers also to eating meat !).

2. Why didn`t the monkey spare the lives of those bees?

Because he think only on himself and how he will make a gift to the Buddha. He don´t think on consequences of unproper offering.  Restless mind is not aware of consequences of his doing. Restless mind lack clarity and awareness. It is said in Buddhist teachings : Mindfulness is the foundation of Dharma path. Therefore we don´t offer to the Buddhas anything that causes harm to sentient beings.
3. Did the monkey die shortly as to maybe a bad karma the way he killed those bees?
He died soon after he killed other sentient beings (the bees). Other religions also teach : As you sow thus shall you reap. This is universal law of cause, condition and consequences/effects. We must saw seeds of virtuous karma, creating merit, to become enlightened.

4. Why did buddha have compassion for the monkey? What about those babies bees?
Because he presented honey offering to the Buddha thus making connection with the Enlightened One. Buddha is also impartial in helping sentient beings, like the Sun who shines equaly on all. But it´s our virtuous or unvirtuous karma which allow us or prevent us to receive His guidance and compassionate help.

5. Why did the monkey get such a high rewards for his death?

Monkey made some merit by offering to the Buddha . Being reborn as an angel is not “reward”  but consequence of his karma. Being reborn in upper realms of samsara is good, but it is not yet liberation from cyclic existence. In the Chinese classic : Journey to the West – monkey also represent arrogance.

II. WISDOM WITHOUT BORDERS

June 26 : International day against the misuse of drugs. As anyone knows : the use of tobacco, alcohol, meat and drugs is prohibited by Buddhist ethics (pratimoksha vows –pancasila ) taught by Buddha Shakyamuni and many enlightened Buddhist masters throughout 2500 years of history. Some readers may feel little bit offended when we point this out again and again in our Teachings and answers. But we will not change this ethical precepts only to please general public . Kyabje Chatral Rinpoche-the root Guru of Dudjom Rinpoche III. and His Eminence Sagar Rinpoche (Nepal) also teach the same. Dudjom Rinpoche II. wrote a treatise about harmful effects of tobacco and drugs. We all need to raise public awareness about harmful effects of drugs (and other poisons) which diminish mind´s clarity, obstructing Enlightenment.

June 27 : UNESCO Heritage of humanity : Congratulations to Mt. Wu Tai in China, with many Buddhist temples from 1.-20. Century A.D. for becoming Heritage of humanity, protected by the Unesco. We rejoice ! It is said that Atiyoga Dzogchen Master Vimalamitra resides invisibly  at the  five peaks of  Wu Tai, sacred to Buddha Manjushri, the Buddha of wisdom. See Visual Dharma: Homage to Manjushri, Manjushri-nama-samgiti.

*Mt. Sun Shan in Hebei province of China , with famuous Shaolin Buddhist temple and practitioners, will become Heritage of humanity, protected by the Unesco, in 2010. We strongly support ! (See description of Visual Dharma : Buddhist Chi Kung Energy workout).

I.1 MYSTIC  DANCE

Self-arisen intrinsic awareness

I bow to the self-arisen intrinsic awareness,

which is the best wisdom Teacher.

Sentient beings are in illusory dance, displaying five poisons. Yet in reality display : No dance, no dancing and no dancer : only shining awareness and freedom. Listen to the non-dual Dharmata´s sound, unwaveringly always be Samantabhadra Buddha.

No angels and no witches, only crystal clear awareness shining and resonating with the Dharmata´s sound undisturbed.

Don´t remain in dualism, in doubts of conceptualisations ! Don´t torture yourself with thoughts – listen to continuous Dharmata´s self-arisen Sound, self-liberated sound, the door of Freedom.

Dissolve all concepts and thoughts in shining, empty, limitless awareness space and fly like the Garuda !

Be Vajrasattva, embracing his Consort – they show directly open Path – the Bridge of the Sound – luminous Shunyata of Samantabhadra yab-yum.

Word Transmission is truly wordless doctrine for those, who A-bide in Dharmata´s self-arisen, unimpeded Sound.

Five Wisdom Dakinis are truly one Samantabhadri. Beyond words experience and realize this sacred Truth.

This is Heart advice how to practice and remain in natural state. Written down after reading few lines from the Magic Dance of Kyabje Chimed Tsewang Rinpoche.

May it be auspicious

I.2 Visual Dharma – Buddhist teaching for 3rd millenium :

Nyingma Vajrayana Buddhism

“Visual Dharma No. 29 was created in Spring 2005. In this Visual Dharma we teach about three lineages of Transmission in Nyingma Vajrayana Buddhism. There is Dharma from Buddha Shakyamuni and short biography of Kyabje Thinley Norbu Rinpoche, the eldest son of H.H.Dudjom Rinpoche II. Buddha Shakyamuni said : „My fearless lion´s Dharma Throne does not have an owner. The one who has compassion, who has Wisdom Mind, who has benefit mind, this one is the holder of my lineage, and can sit upon my throne.” This Visual Dharma is dedicated for the authentic continuation of the Nyingma lineages, for the health and long live of Nyingma lineage Masters.”

I.3 QUESTIONS & ANSWERS from the Friends  of Buddha Dharma :

Watergrass     , USA, sent five questions. First two are published today, further three in next Alive Dharma teaching . Thank you for sending them . With peace and compassion.

1.”When Buddha sits under the bodhi tree, the day that he achieved enlightment reveals the first and only 5 animals that saw the enlightment activities. What was the five animals that saw it? The only human that saw it was the boy who raise the cow. Please name the only 5 animals that saw it. I will be waiting for your answer. May the loving, compassion of buddha and good attraction be with you.”

Loving compassion of Buddha Shakyamuni is with all compassionate sentient beings who refrain of eating meat of dead animals. This is the most important Teaching that Lord Buddha is still transmitting today to everyone: become compassionate sentient being, save the lives of animals by avoiding to eat their corpses. You will probably not be content with this answer, dear Friend of Buddha Dharma. But we all encourage you to become vegetarian, to pray and meditate daily according to Lord Buddha´s instructions and all answers will be gradually revealed in your wisdom awareness…

2.”The 14th Dalai Lama is the reincarnation of the 13 Lama. Now because HH has reached the enlightment stage, which broke the endless cycle of the wheel of life. So will there be a 15th Lama reincarnated when His Holiness pass away? The Buddhist view is that we humans exist in an unenlightened state when we are still in the wheel of life cycle. I’ll be waiting for your answer. Best wishes.”

There are different stages on the Path of enlightenment, on the Bodhisattva path. When one becomes the 8th level Bodhisattva, one is not reincarnated any more because of one´s karma. One can choose to be born again in this saha world of endurance in order to help sentient beings and to lead them to liberation. Those Bodhisattvas on 8th,9th,10th and further levels as described in precious Atiyoga Dzogpa chenpo sacred texts can truly help beings. Such Bodhisattvas don´t have normal reincarnations, but emanations . Some of them are emanations of Avalokiteshvara Buddha of compassion. H.H. the XIVth Dalai Lama always says that he will be born again in this world if sentient beings need him. As written in the Snow Lion newsletter recently, his next birth might also be that of a woman . He says : Woman have more compassion… According to our inspiration and teachings it would be great achievement if the XV. Dalai Lama would be contemporary female Buddhist master, promoting gender equality as one of the millenium goals of United nations. Short letter about this is published on the description of our Buddhist channel. Please, read it.

All beings have equal Buddha potential , the seed of Enlightenment. Arhats and Bodhisattvas have already developed this seed of Buddha nature in countless previous lives of devoted and diligent Dharma practice. May Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of ten directions and three times continuously bless all of us ….

II. WISDOM WITHOUT BORDERS

There ain’t no chains strong enough to hold me

Ain’t no man big enough to stop me
I’ll be there if you ever want me by your side
There ain’t no rope stout enough to bind me
Look for me, honey, you will find me
Any old time, get ready with your charm
I’ll be there ready and a-waiting
There won’t be any hesitating

Clarifying wrong views

with the Wisdom sword of Manjushri

Wrong views belong to the domain of mind – consciousness or thinking. Unless one has truly awakened innate wisdom awareness, wrong views are difficult to detect. One must hold the sword of Manjushri to clarify wrong views in one´s own thinking and concepts.

When Buddhism was introduced from India to China in first centuries of the first millenium it was on many occassions interpreted with the help of Taoist terminology. We must use wisdom of discernment or prajna to understand that Taoism or Tao is not the same as buddha nature or Tathagatagharba. Buddha nature is not the same as universal consciousness. Achievement of the universal consciousness still belongs to the higher realms of samsara or cyclic existence. But our buddha nature is completely liberated from samsara . Pure lands of the Buddha Rupakaya which are Sambhogakaya and Nirmanakaya expressions of the stainless Dharmakaya, are not heavens of the higher samsaric realms.

Buddhist masters sometimes don´t use such wisdom of discernment which is sixth paramita or perfection. Without first five perfections there is no prajna. Without all nine perfections there is no jnana- yeshe or perfection of primordial wisdom : Wisdom of our pure and spontaneously perfect  buddha nature, manifesting itself through primordialy pure, spontaneously present Sound and Wisdom lights.

Masters who are trying to be very universal and who are by all means trying to collect disciples, sometimes don´t purify wrong views. If they would do so, their so called students would probably run away to another master, who just let them beleive that everything is the same.

Formlessness belong to the formless realms of samsara. Formlessness is not Dharmakaya or the Truth body of the Buddhas. May path clarify confussion. Here I am teaching from the aspects of the Ati Yoga path – practice. Many uneducated Ati Yoga or Dzogchen practitioners think that formlessness is the achievement of the Ati Yoga view, which is Dharmakaya. Formlessness or non-thought is  one of the experiences on the Ati Yoga path. If one becomes attached to such experiences, this becomes obscuration. Such practitiones don´t have the correct view of Dzogchen. For a long time I analised the teachings of Masters who teach in very universal way, equaling Tao with Buddha nature or even Jesus with Buddha. Why they are doing this ? Because this appeals to the majority of their public. Without holding  wrong view such public will scatter around.

Holding wrong views is also very comfortable for the ego. It is ego´s last domain where he/she can hide. In wrong views ego is not endangered at all. He builds around himself the citadel of more wrong views, true fortress. But the ego in the fortress of wrong views is somehow insecure. He is like the frog in the well, explouding when he sees immeasurable ocean-wisdom. There is nothing to hide any more. One is completely exposed.  There are no fancy dresses of religious hierarchy, no extravagant religious empowerments and importance. One is completely naked. Naked Samantabhadra Buddha, our true buddha nature, waiting to be discovered as secret treasure in everyone of us. We can discover our primordial purity through spontaneously present self-liberated Sound and Wisdom Lights.

When Samantabhadra´s Sound and Light are discovered in our awareness through direct introduction from the authentic Buddhist master, we know that conciousness is  the skanda or one of the five aggregates.  Even if it is called universal conciousness, it is still the skanda or aggregate. Even in chan or zen practice skandas are called five dusts. One does not rely on them. We no longer depend on skanda of consciousness, we rely on Vajrasattva Buddha. The Sambhogakaya aspect of Dharmakaya Buddha Samantabhadra.

Those who practice so called „Tibetan Buddhism“ arrogantly proclaim how translations of Buddhist works from Sanskrit into Tibetan are superior to all other translations. Yet, when I researched for a long period how many partial and theoretical meanings they imposed to the word initiation one can only smile . Word initiation has so many partial and theoretical meanings as there are translations. Ati Yoga or Dzogchen view does not rely on theoretical speculations of what it could possibly be. Ati Yoga view is relying on direct experience of our self-liberated buddha nature and the wisdom of all Tathagatas.

There are also many wrong views about first paramita or perfection of generosity. If Buddhists think that they must first become rich in order to practice generosity and the Path of the Buddha, this is wrong view. Such practitioners will never obey the words of Guru Padmasambhava and will never practice ten Dharmic activities. Instead they will sell the dharma as merchandise. Some Buddhists only go to the ceremonies and empowerments with the wish to become rich in samsaric world, never carying about wisdom. They run from one initiation to another, collecting empowerments and becoming addicted to empowerments. Addiction to empowerments is very dangerous addiction. One become immune for the Dharma – true panacea. Even diligent daily meditation without proper motivation to liberate oneself from samsara is just another samsaric practice.  Many  practitioners who practice in this style, truly don´t progress on the Buddha Path. In such countries Buddhism is closely mixed with nationality and with cultural habits. People are very religious  outside, but materialistic inside. People eat corpses of dead sentient beings (i.e. meat) and they still claim to be Buddhists. People drink alcohol but they still claim to be Buddhists. There were many studies about Himalayan greatest problem , that of alcoholism !  Such practitioners don´t take Buddhist teaching to heart and are only outside Buddhists, not Buddhists with wisdom…

We must be generous by practicing and teaching Buddha Dharma for our liberation and for the sake of all sentient beings. Being generous does not mean to sell the Dharma as merchandise, to sell Buddhist books, statues of Buddhas , paintings of Buddhas or other religiuous implements. Such non-dharmic activities will only further bind us to samsara and prevent the awakening of our innate buddha nature. Without dana paramita or perfection of generosity there are no other nine perfections. Buddha´s Path starts with the first step and that is generosity. Generosiy is first step in releasing grasping or the samsaric „grip of the crocodile“.

Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are unendingly generous. They manifest to guide sentient beings, to encourage them in liberation. Why shouldn´t we be generous as Bodhisattvas ?!

Buddha Padmasambhava is extremely generous. He dictated many secret treasures and  Wisdom Dakini Yeshe Tshogyal has hidden them for the sake of future generations. We must be generous enough to practice and teach these secret treasure Dharmas, to uphold them and promote them with generosity, not as merchandise. Generosity is secret jewel of the Vajra heart, shining everywhere in unlimited Oneness.

There are also many wrong views about the lineage. Buddhist organisatoins which are organised in a way of having headquarters and local chapters often appoint local leaders and give certificates that such and such chapter belong to their lineage. It can happen that misunderstanding arise because of the lack of communications or unwillingness to communicate; one is also not obedient enough or one does not contribute enough money, one is not successful in so called dharma bussiness. Headquarters with the board of directors then revome so called certificate and expell the local leader or local chapter. It is the same as in any other samsaric organisation like multi-national trade companies who train their employees  how to become skillful marketing managers.

In the Buddha Dharma – Open Buddhist Forum International our skillful means are compassion   according to the Teachings of Buddha Shakyamuni and Buddha Padmasambhava, practicing ten Dharmic activities to teach and promote pure Dharma. Buddhist lineage of Ati Yoga is not given with so called  lineage certificate. True Buddhist lineage does not have an owner and we don´t steal from the Treasure of Dharmadhatu. Lineage of Ati Yoga is not like buying the licence or concession for  some product. When Garab Dorje, the first human Master of Ati Yoga was about to leave this world upon hearing the crying of his heart disciple Manjushrimitra , he didn´t give him some lineage certificate. He gave him his Testament with three short Statements or Dharmas. Garab Dorje did not said to Manjushrimitra : „You are now my lineage holder. Be successful dharma bussinessman and propagate this Dharma in greedy bussinessman style!“

True Buddhist lineages always start in Dharmakaya. They are  not man- made. It is non-conceptual and non-intellectual. Is not like buying trade licence or concession…. If Buddha nature would be available through concession, somebody could still remove it from us. Or we could buy it and give it back, if we would not like it. But it´s innate, inherently present. Nobody can give it to us and nobody can remove it from us. And this is true glory of Buddha´s teaching : self-liberation. We are very grateful to all Bodhisattvas who helped us to discover and abide in buddha nature, but we don´t worship them as gods. Worshiping has dangerous aspect of idolising and we would remain in the golden cage. Idolising somebody is very ignorant behaviour.  True Guru Yoga does not mean that we need to idolise anyone.    Gods can not lead us to liberation, but the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas  can…

Because of the merit from previous lives one can receive all-embracing empowerment from Guru Padmasambhava himself at an early stage in one´s life, as many treasure revealers or tertöns have received. But such Masters, especialy when they were educated in non-buddhist environment , must still study and practice with authentic lineage masters of the unbroken kama lineage, otherwise wrong views are not purifyed. One can remain with same wrong views for decades into one´s old age. This would be great pity !

In order to purify wrong views and obscurations I wrote this Dharma that spontaneously appeared in my compassionate awareness. May all Buddhist practitioners who still hold wrong views be BRAVE enough to cut their wrong views with the Wisdom sword of Noble Manjushri, the wisdom of all Buddhas.

May everyone become Vidyadhara – Rigpa Dzinpa, lineage holders of the Buddha-

Dharmakaya.

It was dry season on the island and the Mediterranean vegetation showed first damage of dryness. But is was raining and the bushes and beautiful pine trees recovered their natural green freshness. Together we meditate and pray for inner & outer peace on the planet. This afternoon we will have Collective meditations and prayers (as every Sunday since 1988 from 4-5 pm GMT+1 or according to your local time) on the  shore of the crystal clear emerald sea. We will reach very solitary places after 20 minutes of walking meditation.

Thanks to all who write creative and virtuous comments on our Buddhist channel , who embed, favor and write creative comments to Visual Dharmas-Buddhist teachings for 3rd millennium. We will publish most creative comments in  one of next Alive Dharma teachings. Reflect on the meaning of Visual Dharmas and write your insingts in a creative way. International day of the protection of environment (June 5) proclaimed by the UNESCO : when we meditate and pray for all sentient beings and for the whole planet Earth , we contribute to the protection of environment in a deep spiritual way. As vegetarians we care for all beings, saving lives of animals. May this day inspire much more people to stop eating meat, because meat is murder. Become compassionate toward yourself and protect your health and conscience from harmful effects of eating meat of mother sentient beings. Many independent studies offer enough proof, that raising cattle contribute extensively to the climate change. See Supreme Master TV for further reports. Accomplished Buddhist Master Nyala Pema Dodul (Tibet) wrote poetical treatise against eating meat. See description of our channel.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS:

1.Dharma practitioner from France / Cambodia asked :

“The body is created by human karmic energy-human life is determined by actions in past lives.

Q 87: Does karmic energy create spirit and soul ?”

Being born as a human being with all capacities is great privilege. Think how much more beings are reborn in animal world as insects, fishes, birds etc.. Being born as human being means that one is reborn in upper realms of samsara (humans, demi-god and gods). Yet majority of people doesn´t travel the spiritual paths and the Buddha Dharma path, because they don´t think about the impermanence of life. They live mostly unconscious – unaware life, never thinking about going for Refuge to Buddha, His Teachings and to the Assembly of Virtuous Friends (Sangha). You say : “Human life is determined by the actions in past lives.” This is too fatalistic view. Buddhist view is optimistic . Actions in past lives surely influence the present life, but there are virtuous actions (pali: kusala karma) and non-virtuous actions (akusala karma). Many uneducated writers often wrongly use the word karma as a kind of treat. But karma can also be good karma : like good karma of practicing the Buddha´s teachings or good karma of teaching pure Dharma.

Does karmic energy create spirit and soul ? After reflecting on the above you will find the answer about spirit and soul in the Visual Dharma: About Buddhism . May your understanding of the Buddhist path of enlightenment bring you peace , joy , prosperity and happiness.

RELAXATION MEDITATION – Awareness of the Body

Assume a posture and position that is comfortable and that will allow you to rest for a longer period without discomfort.  A cross-legged posture with a straight back is recommended.

Take a deep breath, holding it for a few seconds and then slowly let it go.  Repeat this a few times.  This helps to release tensions and helps in relaxation.

Remember  –  you have been working and struggling your whole life.  Give yourself a chance to relax.  This is your chance for quality time for yourself so all other maters must be left aside.  Let them outside the door when you come into this room.

Just relax.

Leave all cares and worries aside.

Leave all anger, resentment or aversion aside.

Leave all thoughts of revenge or retaliation aside.

Leave all enemies aside.

Leave all thoughts of family, loved ones and friends aside.

Leave all thoughts of work and business aside.

Leave all responsibilities aside.

Simply relax and let go of everything.

Just relax and let them go.

Stay and remain with yourself one.

Remain within yourself.

Do not venture your mind outside.

Holding your own presence of mind, turn your mind inward.

Be aware of your own body.

Keeping attention on your own body, be aware of the body.

Be aware of the bodily functions that arise in your field of awareness.

For example:-   Be aware of your breathing.

Keep awareness of your breathing.

Be aware of its quality  –  its length, quality, rise and fall of the chest,

rise and fall of the abdomen,

Just simply aware.

Do not follow or fixate.

Do not try to control the function.

Do not reject.

Simply be aware and relax.

Just relax………  relax …………. relax.

Relax without doing anything with the mind.

Let go of trying to do anything.

Simply relax………  relax …………. relax.

If the mind wanders to other matters, simply return to one’s meditation again.

Just leave other matters aside.  Let them go and return to one’s meditation.

Simply relax and be aware.

If you like,  you may count the number of times you are breathing, starting from 1 to 10,  and then start all over again.  This may calm the mind down and helps focus it.

And then return to being aware of one’s body and bodily functions again.

Simply relax and let go.

Simply relax………  relax …………. relax.

Just relax………  relax …………. relax.

Let go of all cares and worries.

Let go of all matters.

Return to your awareness and relax.

Simply relax………  relax …………. relax.

Just relax………  relax …………. relax.

Relax ……….relax ……….relax ………relax ………… relax.

Just keep awareness – knowing – your body and body functions.

Just relax………  relax …………. relax.

Relax ……….relax ……….relax ………relax ………… relax. It is strongly recommended for beginners to practise meditation under the direct supervision of an experienced meditator (eg., in a class taught and supervised by an experienced teacher).  It is also recommended that the beginner regularly obtains guidance, supervision and advice from the teacher.

ATIYOGA RELAXATION

After we applied Relaxation meditation – awareness of the body, so beautifully presented by Shifu John  Chow, we reflect on the essential meaning of relaxation on the Atiyoga Dzogpa Chenpo Buddhist path of Great completeness or Great perfection. All-knowing (Kunkhyen) Longchen Rabjam (1308-1363) was one of the most eminent Buddhist scholars of Nyingma Vajrayana Buddhism. Among his many written precious Dharma works there are Three Cycles on Relaxation (Ngalso Korsum), consisting of three root texts (Tsa-wa), three summaries-garlands (Phreng-wa) and three auto commentaries – chariots (Shing-ta) and three meaningful commentaries (Don-khrid) or instructions on practice, totally fifteen treatises.

Three cycles on Relaxation are :

1.Semnyid Ngalso- Relaxation in natural state of mind : root text in 13 chapters.

2. Gyuma Ngalso – in 18 chapters.

3. Samten Ngalso – in 3 chapters.

To develop Relaxation in natural state we begin to nurture six perfections or paramitas, so beautifully described in Dharma verse by Longchen Rabjam in Semnyid Ngalso .http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xcGgQvL0zvY

See related Visual Dharma. “Sem” is ordinary, samsaric mind. “Nyid” relates to the nature or heart. Nature of Mind : Sem-nyid. When we relax in the Sound*Light of Dharmata, our Ultimate nature, we know exactly what is the Nature of Mind and how it is. As the Chan/Zen saying goes : “The one who is drinking pure water knows exactly what taste it has !” Master Longchenpa is Omniscent Lord of Dharma (Chö-gye) : from the nature of his enlightened Mind-Awareness all his wonderful Dharma works arose like the rays of the sun, always shining. One of his Dharma names is Drimed Odser or Stainless Radience.

Buddhist Chi Kung energy workout is great support in Atiyoga Relaxation. This essential workout takes you only 10  min : it is meditation in movement where relaxed breathing supports the flow of energy.

Vajra breathing with three Lightsis another great support for Atiyoga relaxation : sit in a comfortable position with straigth back. Slowly inhale white light, seeing white shining syllable OM on your forehead. Hold the breath for a while, seeing red light or red shining syllable AH on your throat chakra . Exhale with blue shining light, seeing blue shining syllable HUM in your heart chakra. Exhale long and in a relaxed way. The meaning of sacred syllables OM AH HUM is explained in Visual Dharma : Teaching about 7-line invocation .

In short : there is always time for Dharma practice. Don´t say that you don´t have time for breathing ! Relax in Vajra breathing during the day, to strengthen your energy and to proceed on the spiritual path inward.

When we practice Kunzang Gongpa Zhangtal or Wish – granting prayer of Samantabhadra, we recite : “Relax in natural state, thus mastering the natural state of awareness and accomplish five wisdoms…”

Those who practice extensive sadhanas of meditational deities (Yidam practice) must always practice in relaxed way, to develop spaciousness within and to obtain “yogic response” more swiftly. With correct relaxation all noble qualities of our Ultimate nature (Dharmata, Chö-nyid) become visible in one´s purification process.

When we intone sacred letter A, we relax and turn our attention inward to hear naturaly liberated Sound*Light of Dharmata …A… our Ultimate nature, continuing all the time, timelessly. Even when we don´t intone A, innate Sound is present. To return and relax in that Wisdom Awareness is Atiyoga Dzogpa Chenpo effortless meditation. Ringing of the Bell …..In silence become aware of naturaly liberated Sound*Light of your Ultimate nature…. Very simple !

All-knowing Longchenpa wrote about the meaning of Upadesha-Managde : Innermost secret cathegory (Sang-wa La-med) teachings of Dzogpa chenpo :

“In essence (No-wo), as it does not depend on words, it does not rely on the wisdom of analysis. In nature (Rang.zhin), as it is direct realisation, it does not remain in views of mental analysis. In character (Tshan-nyid), as it is the perfection of the four visions, it doesn`t have expectations for the attainment of three Buddha bodies and five primordial wisdoms. Because in this practice, one actualizes the primordialy and spontaneously accomplished result in this very lifetime.”

May this Dharma illuminate everyone Buddha nature within and without, bringing Relaxation, peace and joy to all beings on this Dharmachakra day in the Saga Dawa month of Lord Shakyamuni Enlightenment and parinirvana. OM AH HUM   SVA HA

UNSEPARABLE VAJRA TEACHINGS

Alive Dharma : UNSEPARABLE  VAJRA TEACHINGS, May 31, 2009

8th day of Saga Dawa

Dear Friends of Buddha Dharma,

this day is dedicated to the Medicine Buddhas and to Arya Tara. To multiply the blessings of the Medicine Buddhas throughout the planet we send related Visual Dharma-Buddhist teaching for 3rd millenium.  Do the same and help to stop spreading of diseases, famine, poverty and violence in the world.

I.BUDDHIST WHOLESOME MEDICINE – education :

May 31 is also NO TOBACCO DAY. Kyabje Dudjom Rinpoche II. wrote about harmful effects of tobacco on human health, poluting the central energy channel and closing it, diminishing innate clarity and wisdom. If you are a smoker, stop smoking tobacco today ! It is very good day for the beginning of your purification . In Buddhist wholesome medicine we offer advice and purification medicine (Concentrated powder : Universal healing tonic) which will help you to purify your energy more swiftly and efficiently. Please support laws in your country which prohibit smoking in public places. We must also think about human rights of children who live in families where parents are smoking. Such children are exposed daily to the harmful effects of passive smoking . This polution can affect their health in young age or later in adult life (astma, cardio vascular diseases, immune defficiency, cancer etc.) Educating children and their parrents must be one of the priorities of all medical doctors. As in England doctors should be awarded additionaly for their efforts in preventing diseases.

One of our favorite movies is the awarded documentary by Michael Moore : Sicco. Everyone should view it with awareness. On the list of efficient medical systems , presented in this documentary we see that Slovenia is just on the following place after  US ! We strongly support US President Mr. Barack Obama – Friend of Buddha Dharma on youtube and The White House-Friend of Buddha Dharma on myspace- in their positive efforts for the reform of medical health care in US. Yes, everybody has the right to choose such  health care which will truly help him / her in prevention of diseases. We educate constantly about prevention of diseases by promoting healthy and high quality vegetarian diet, meditation , Buddhist Chi Kung workout, martial arts etc. ! At least now when new virus related to swine flu is trying to spread all over the world, everyone with common sense should allready know that meat eating habit is not only ethically unvirtuous, but also dangerous for human health. By becoming vegetarians for the rest of our lives we save lives of sentient beings. There is great merit*positive energy in virtuous actions of saving lives of animals. May you soon become compassionate living being . For this we constantly pray….

UNSEPARABLE VAJRA TEACHINGS

Homage to the innate, self-arisen Sound*Light of primordial purity and spontaneity

There are different kinds of Buddhist teachings. Most advanced are unseparable Vajra teachings of primordial purity (Tib. Kadak) and spontanweity (Lhundrub). When we have stable abiding in the samadhi of Sound*Light of our innate Buddha nature we receive Vajra teachings in unimpeded continuity of Dharmakaya. In Dharmakaya´s (Tib. Chö-ku) dimension of Truth we are unseparable (Tib. Yermed) from all Buddhas wisdom awareness. As Urgyen Guru Lian-shen (1) recently wrote in a letter :
Sentient beings are sentient beings because they have ignorance. Nothing exist in the Great Void. Yet, from the Great Void reveals all Upaya to help sentient beings.”

For a reasoning, conceptual mind these might seem a paradox. If you wish to understand unseparable Vajra teachings – just leave reasoning, conceptual mind- thoughts alone. Relax and return your attention inward : listen to innate Sound*Light of your Buddha nature, always guiding you, always present, always loving.

Many think that Buddhism is so complicated, full of complicated terms and intellectual explanations. But all 84.000 Buddhist teachings, revealed by the Buddhas, are compassionate skullful means (Skt. Upaya) to lead sentient beings into liberation, accomplishment and enlightenment of THAT Buddha potential within. Atiyoga Dzogpa chenpo Upadesha (secret instructions series) Tantra Penetration of Sound (Tib. Dra thal gyur) teaches : Penetration of Sound is the base of all Buddha`s teachings.”(2) From the naturally self-arisen Sound*Light of Dharmata all Buddha´s teachings arise as compassionate skillful means (Upaya). Everybody who does not know or is not aware of innate Sound*Light of Great Voidness is sentient being, ignorant about innate Buddha nature.  Unawareness (Skt. Avidya, Tib. Marigpa) must be awakened into wisdom awareness (Skt. Vidya, Rigpa). Guru Padmasambhava is teaching how to accomplish this : “Descend with the view, ascend with the conduct.” I repeat this again and again and it`s never enough. To descend with the view and ascend with the conduct is the correct, authentic Path of Buddhist practice. We can not leave the view about primordial purity and spontaneity of our innate Buddha nature only as theoretical view, high as Mt. Everest, but behaviour is left on the level of the base camp or even lower ! Our aim is to integrate primordial purity and spontaneity into pure behaviour, benefiting many sentient beings.

Unseparable Vajra Dharma´s teach us how to accomplish our innate Buddha potential into fruit of enlightenment; how to be unseparable from all the Buddhas . As Kyabje Thinley Norbu Rinpoche wrote in one of His prayers : “…to abide forever with immeasurable Buddhas.” (3) Unseparable Vajra Dharma´s also teach us how to benefit sentient beings through wisdom compassion, teaching with unbiased upaya-compassionate skillful means. Unseparable Vajra teachings are like the sun and sunrays- always there, always present, always lovingly radiant. Even if you can not go to teachings and retreats of Buddhist masters – unseparable Vajra teachings are never discontinued . In unimpeded continuity they are always present- after you successfully receive DIRECT INTRODUCTION to the Sound*Light of Dharmata practice.

Ringing of the Bell … just turn your attention inward and listen to the unimpeded Sound*Light of innate Buddha nature, Samantabhadra Buddha within. Have confidence in the View of your primordial purity, spontaneously arising, hearable*visible Sound*Light of Dharmata (Tib. Chönyid kyi rangdra). Continue in that relaxed natural state (4) and cross over the ocean of samsara to the serene continent of three Roots , three dimensions, primordial Buddha Samantabhadra within.

Homage to all Buddhas,

Present in three sacred syllables

OM AH HUM

Great sacred mantra of Vajra Body, Vajra Speech and Vajra Mind

SVA HA

Colophon :

May unseparable Vajra Dharmas empty samsara

through immeasurable upaya –

compassionate skillful means .

May it be auspicious for everyone.
