Questions and answers :
Leon (Guatemala) asked 1. about the 500 years period mentioned in Buddhist teachings, related to the diminishing of Buddhist Dharma. It is true that such periods are described in Buddhist treatises on cosmology. Detailed answer can not be written in only few words. We recommend the book : Myriad Worlds – Buddhist Cosmology in Abidharma, Kalachakra and Dzog-chen by Jamgön Kongtrul Lodrö Taye, Snow Lion publications, 1995. At the same time we must understand that everyone is responsible for his/her own enlightenmnet and liberation to be accomplished as soon as possible by purifying unvirtuous karma, accomplishing virtues and wisdom. This is the essential teaching of Shakyamuni Buddha.
2. Prophecy of second Buddha –Guru Padmasambhava, about the Dharma spreading to the West (the land of red men) is well known. The challenge for Buddhism in globalised world is to overcome distinctions about geographical East as opposed to the West. Personaly I feel uneasy when I hear someone addressing sentient beings in the West as Westerners or sentient beings living in Asia as Easterners. Nowdays in the internet and esp. youtube era, Buddhist teachings circle from West back to the East and vice versa. We are all brothers and sisters in global community. Nobody is more important as the other. We should all learn from each other.
We are interested in your insights & sincere questions and will try to answer them accordingly.
2. BUDDHIST MEDITATIONS AND PRAYERS (since 1988), every Sunday from 4-5 pm (GMT +1) or according to your local time, according to the programme of Visual Dharmas-Buddhist teachings for 3rd millenium.

Sammychan3412 (Hong Kong)-Friend of Buddha Dharma- sent this Seed of enlightenment . It is long Dharani from the Nyung Nas – Ritual of 1000-armed Avalokiteshvara : Great compassionate one with eleven faces , entitled the Ship of liberation. Written by Jonang Taranatha and H.H. Kalsang Gyatso. There are English and German translations of the sadhana . Kyabgön Drikung Chetsang Rinpoche lead 3-day Nyung-nas retreat at the castle of Limberg, Austria, Nov. 1994. Nyung-nas or fasting ritual with intense Dharma practice is very beneficial and we recommend it to everyone. It is also beneficial for purifying meat eating habit !
Thank you, Sammy Chan for providing this Seed of Enlightenment.
b) Atiyoga * Dzogpa chenpo :Verse from the Song of the Vajra or Wisdom song
GHU-RA GHU-RA SA-GHA KHARNA-LAM :
It is great Sound which was never sang by anyone and will never be sung by anyone.
This verse describes the self-liberated Sound of Dharmata as practiced in our Atiyoga essence lineage of Nyingma Vajrayana Buddhism.
3.WISDOM WITHOUT BORDERS : BUDDHISM and CULTURE
Review of the Inaugural issue (April 2009). This beautifuly arranged magazine with 72 ! pages and many high quality art photos is published quarterly by the Korea Buddhism Promotion Foundation, established in 1975. It is dedicated to the development of Buddhim in Korea and Buddhist culture. Inquiries can be sent to : email@example.com www.kbpf.org We are grateful to Won Kwang Sa Temple from Hungary, EU for sending us free copy of the magazine.
Topics focus on : Korean aestetics, Buddhist aestetics, Featured personality, Global Buddhist culture, Ecology, Practice and life interbeing. Article brings interesting portrait of Chong An Sunim, the abbot of Wonkwangsa temple in Hungary, entitled : Embracing modern life with clear eyes. In teaching fitting for the next generation he says : “I use all kinds of examples: scientific, artistic, literary, historical, whatever helps the message go in.” His Dharma master Seung Sahn Kunsunim also taught : “Don´t think, only do it !” May the plan for the first-ever Korean style temple in Europe (Hungary) of the Kwan Um school of Zen be successful.
Another interesting article: How movies can change lives. It describes the 2008 Intnl. Buddhist Film festival in Mexico city . Buddhism and film are indeed good partners. We also believe that Buddhists (non-monastics and monastic) who teach the Dharma must become well versed in visual language. “Zen Masters of the past utilized whatever skillful means that provided effective… to awaken people no matter how preposterous those means might have seemed in the moment. Maybe it is time to include video communication in these skillful means to wake people up.”
In this regard we recommend our Visual Dharma : Day of the planet Earth (April 22) with excerpts from Blood stream sermon of Chan master Bodhidharma.
Basic Buddhist teaching brings: explanation of dependent origination by Zen master Jongbeom Sunim. Very recommended study for everyone ! Interview with poet Ko Un focuses on the 50 years of “Buddhism and poetry of my life”. In ecological news there is description of Flower topped Korean style yam pancake. As strict vegetarians we are always happy if Buddhist magazines promote healthy vegetarian diet! There is also lively encounter with Korean houses with lovely inner courts, Historic pine forest at Tong dosa temple and the article about Joy of breathing in the mud house.
In short : the inaugural issue of BUDDHISM and CULTURE successfully brings treasure of Buddhist culture in Korea to the world audience. Congratulations!
We first encountered closer contact with Zen Buddhism in Korea when we invited ven. Jisu Sunim to take part at the Dialogue III. at the cultural & congress centre in Ljubljana, Slovenia, EU, Oct.1999. Video tape about Buddhism in Korea was generously provided by the representative of Korean trade mission in Slovenia. Ven. Jisu Sunim later lead Zen-sesshin (3-days intensive meditations) at the castle of Limberg, Austria. Ven. Sunim also taught in the style: Don´t think, just do it ! May Buddhist teachings and Buddhist culture from Korea illuminates the world like the rising sun.
